The Legian Bali Announces Renovation

The Legian is commencing renovation on the 3rd week of February until May 30th 2012.
The process will commence as below details :
Hotel rooms
•    2 blocks of suites will be taken out of the inventory of the hotel, hence, the resort will be operating with only 35 suites. Phase 2 will commence January 2013 for the remaining 2 blocks
•    The works in progress will not affect the other 2 blocks which are operationally open, as the works involved encompass following:
o    New bathroom fixtures (taps, toilets, mirrors, etc.)
     o    Complete new lighting
     o    Complete overhaul of A/C

Public Areas
•    Removal of overgrown, old and too shady trees to be replanted with mature trees
•    Landscaping of the front and back gardens as well as hotel entrance to improve the grounds and make them more tropically lush

The works will not infringe much on the guest experience as the resort has been doing much of the similar tasks in the past.

New Adult Lap Pool
The aforementioned pool will have days where the works will be noisier than others. The front sunset lawn area will be dug out (by hand) hence no machinery will be placed on the grounds to cause unsightly views and unwanted noise. To avoid having to watch the work, a barrier is set between the top and the bottom pool, hence, for a few months, though the pool is open and operating fully, there will not be the infinity view to the ocean as usual.

Wading pools
Behind both the Ocean and Pool bars, the current fish ponds will be revamped into beautiful water gardens, with the far right and left corners transitioned for wading pools for small babies, separated by a low wall to allow for small children to play in shallow pools. This will enable the Legian to have 3 pools for kids and allow the new lap pool to be fully an adult pool only.

Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa Completes a Multi Million Dollar Renovation

Iconic resort gets five-star facelift, from room spaces to spa; announces new management positions

Bali, January 20, 2012 — Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa—one of the first five-star luxury properties to grace Bali’s southern peninsula— unveiled the results of a sweeping and substantial refurbishment programme just in time for recent Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

The multi million dollar renovations began in 2010 and were completed December 22, 2011. The property now boasts an extensive range of rejuvenated rooms and facilities, retaining its classic touch but reinvigorated with a new look and feel.

“We’ve accomplished our goal of restoring Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa to the grand splendor for which it’s been known,” said Reto Torriani, General Manager of the 297-room, 85-suite property.

“The refreshed spaces and brand-new rooms offer guests the latest contemporary comforts and many have already told us we’ve exceeded their expectations,” he said. “The resort has never looked better and will continue to evolve, but we have completely remade the hotel well before its 30th anniversary in 2013.”

The resort’s guest rooms and suites demonstrate a perfect union of upmarket amenities set in traditional Balinese architecture. Each room and suite marries local artworks and motifs with dark wood touches and earth-tone fabrics, complete with chairs on the terrace or balcony for a cozy beach-cottage feeling.

The elevated elegance qualifies the hotel to upgrade the previously Superior Rooms to be Deluxe Rooms, and the previously Deluxe Rooms to be Premier Rooms.

Renovation work on this iconic landmark building included giving Bali’s first-ever spa a face-lift. Mr Torriani said that everything but the shell of the spa was replaced. “We didn’t just renovate—this was reconstruction,” he said. “We put in new floors, walls, bathtubs—everything!”

On top of updates to the facilities themselves, a review of treatments offered by the spa was also undertaken, he added, noting that Nusa Dua Spa uses the world-renowned result-based skincare product, Pevonia Botanica, for its facial menu.

The 22-room spa surrounds a 25-metre lap pool, with numerous other facilities that include a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, cool pool, fitness centre, aerobics studio, squash and tennis courts, mountain bikes, basketball ring area and an indoor games room.

Last year saw the re-launch of a completely newly conceptualised Maguro Asian Bistro, overlooking a thoroughly refitted swimming pool and its sunken pool bar. And continuing this tradition of innovation, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa invigorated the local hospitality landscape, with the launch of The Lobby in September 2011.

This chic lounge bar is the only one in the Nusa Dua area to serve until 2am, providing its valued guests as well as visitors and residents with another quality F&B option to join its existing seven.

Renowned Indonesian architect and interiors expert Hadiprana oversaw the design of The Lobby, which incorporates authentic Balinese touches in a lounge bar and veranda setting, with an ergonomically sensitive interior. This extends onto a visually striking outside area where visitors can enjoy the chilled ambience and evocative views over the resort and the ocean.

In 2011, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa also welcomed fresh blood from staff to management level. “Early this year, we appointed new resident manager Peter Scholz and new executive chef Geoff Clark,” said Mr Torriani. “And we just welcomed our new director of sales and marketing, William Santoso, and new spa manager Ayu Handayani.

The year also saw the property garner several awards, receiving renowned user-review website tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence in May 2011, while being certified environmentally friendly by EarthCheck in August 2011.

“These major developments will fully reinforce the hotel’s position as one of the most important properties in Southeast Asia as well as one of the most innovative and iconic hotels in Nusa Dua,” said Mr Torriani.
